Hi Everyone!

We currently have 2 unfilled Postdoctoral Fellowship positions at Aurora Mental Health Center for 2022-2023! I am currently in the International and Refugee Track position and have had a great postdoc training experience. I and the other postdoc in the Adult Intensive Services Track would love to share about our experiences with anyone interested.

Here is a little more information about each track. Attached is a document with more information about the fellowship positions and information about how to apply. We have extended our deadline for applications and will be considering applications through 3/31/22.

International and Refugee Track: The fellow selected for this track will divide their clinical time between the Asian Pacific Development Center (APDC) and the Colorado Refugee Wellness Center (CRWC). APDC is a program that provides culturally competent and community-based services to Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. Fellows work within a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, counselors, case managers, community outreach workers, and psychologists. Services provided include individual, group, and family treatment and fellows will learn how to tailor interventions to address the needs of immigrant and refugee clients. CRWC is a program that provides support to adult refugees from around the world. The focus is on providing team-based and trauma-informed care. Fellows may also have the opportunity to screen and evaluate clients using culturally and linguistically sensitive assessment instruments and perform evaluations specific to refugees seeking citizenship.

Adult Intensive Services Track: The fellow selected for this track will divide their clinical time between the Community Living Program (CLP) and the Aurora Center for Life Skills (ACLS). CLP provides therapeutic support for clients who are diagnosed with a major mental illness and may be at high risk for inpatient hospitalization. Fellows work within this interdisciplinary team to provide individual and group therapy as well as case management and collaboration with outside entities and organizations. ACLS provides outpatient services to adult clients who are diagnosed with both a developmental disability and mental illness. This is also a multidisciplinary team that works to provide individual and group therapy, family therapy, vocational support, case management, and crisis intervention.
