BIPOC Interview Workshop: Pre-doctoral Internship
Communicating your essence in an interview can be daunting, this is especially true for many first generation BIPOC students who often have had to navigate both personal and systemic racism in their journeys from the margins and into the spotlight. We will deconstruct imposter phenomenon from a liberation-decolonial perspective and help you connect with your core essence, strengths, & passion. During the workshop, we will review general interviewing tips for Pre-Doctoral Internships and specific skills to manage anxiety. Leaning on western and ancestral healing practices, we will cultivate a practice for grounding to support you as you embark on this phase of your journey. The workshop will consist of experiential, didactic information and discussion.
Dr. Susana O. Salgado is a licensed psychologist who has served in the capacity of supervisor, therapist, and presenter/ facilitator for 14 years (post-licensure). Dr. Salgado was an integral part of a pre-doctoral internship training for over a decade where she collaborated in developing the internship curriculum and annually served on the Internship Selection Committee.
WHO: This workshop is for self-identified BIPOC doctoral psychology students who applied or will be applying for pre-doctoral internship during the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022.
Limited scholarships are available for those who need the workshop and fee would pose a financial hardship.
CONTACT: Please contact Jasmin Bravo Rangel at jasminbravorangel at gmail.com<mailto:jasminbravorangel at gmail.com> if you have any questions or are interested in a scholarship for the workshop.
