CheckED would like to invite you to join a conversation with Dr. Karen Suyemoto.
Dr. Karen Suyemoto is a professor in the Department of Psychology, the Asian American Studies Program, and the Critical Ethnic and Community Studies Program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Guided by their commitment to social justice and dismantling oppression and marginalization, Dr. Suyemoto’s work focuses on how people resist racism and promote equity and justice, individually and through education and community interventions.
For the past decade, Dr. Suyemoto has contributed significantly to national and regional associations. They have served as the president of the national Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA), chaired the APA Task Force revising the Multicultural Guidelines in relation to issues of race and ethnicity (i.e., APA Guidelines for Practice, Education, Training, and Research with Racial and Ethnic Minorities), and is currently serving on the Editorial Board of Race Politics in the United States. In 2013, they were recognized as a White House Champion of Change: Asian American Pacific Islander Women under the Obama Administration.
