The American Psychological Association (APA) would like to share with you the current state of the psychological science when it comes to diversity training.  As you know, President Trump recently signed Executive Order (EO) 13950 on Combatting Race and Sex Stereotyping, which halts many evidence-based diversity training programs across the federal government. The Administration’s flawed critique of federal workforce diversity training has resulted in misguided policymaking. In fact, the scientific evidence base is strong for the value of diversity training. The attached “Summary of Psychological Research and Science of Diversity Training” document highlights some of the benefits of diversity training, all backed up by rigorous research. We hope that you’ll find this information useful.
