Greetings,
The on-line application is now open for the NIH/NIMHD-funded Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training program (MHIRT) which we refer to as the Latino Mental Health Research Training Program.  The last day to submit an application is February 1, 2018. Undergraduate and pre-doctoral level students who are interested in conducting mental health research in Mexico during the summer of 2018, and who meet the following criteria, are encouraged to apply:

o    3.0 GPA or better

o    Research career orientation

o    Excellent Spanish language oral and written skills
o    Demonstrated interest and/or commitment to reducing health disparities
o    Background in research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative) and/or demonstrated social/behavioral sciences research experience

o    Undergraduates with junior or senior class standing for 2017-2018 academic year, post-baccalaureate/master level degree students, and pre-doctoral level students.

o    U.S. citizen, non-citizen national (generally persons born in outlying possessions of the U.S.), or a permanent resident (i.e., possess a currently valid Alien Registration Receipt Card I-551, or other legal verification of such status)

Must be in at least one of the following categories:

o    From a group underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences, specifically, Black or African American, Latino/Hispanic American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander

o    Low-income individuals, meaning those whose annual income is below the low-income threshold line. This includes those who have qualified for Federal assistance programs or received loans or scholarships for those in financial need. These loans include: Health Professional Student Loans, and Loans for Disadvantaged Student Programs. These scholarships include any that are awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the category Scholarships for Individuals with Exceptional Financial Need.
