Subject: Seeking graduate student participants for online survey (Chance to win a $20 Amazon gift card)
Hello Dr. Ellen Hawley McWhirter,
I hope this finds you well. I am a Counseling Psychology Ph.D student at New Mexico State University, and I was hoping you would consider sending out the below information about my research study to graduate students in Counseling Psychology at University of Oregon. My research examines mental health trainees' perceptions of intimate partner violence, and I would be happy to answer any questions about the study.
Thank you for your time,
Chelse Lang

Hello,
I am conducting an IRB-approved study titled, "Mental Health Services Trainees' Perceptions of Intimate Partner Violence". Intimate partner violence, or IPV, is a critical issue that impacts many individuals, families, and communities, and this study hopes to contribute to the body of literature around future service providers' perceptions of IPV. I am writing to request your participation in an IRB-approved study that will take approximately 20 minutes. If you choose to participate in this study, you will have the option to enter your email address for a chance to win a $20 Amazon gift card. One gift card will be awarded for every 50 participants.
To be eligible to participate, you must be currently enrolled as a master's or doctoral student in Counseling Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, School Psychology, or Social Work.
Your confidentiality will be protected by storing your data securely on a password protected, encrypted computer. Only the research team will have access to the data. The data will be anonymous as you will not be asked for any identifying information. IP addresses will be not tracked or recorded as a part of this research. Only summarized data will be presented at meetings or in publications.
IRB review has determined that risks to participants are minimal. The chief risk is that reading a story about intimate partner violence could potentially cause discomfort, and participation is completely voluntary. You are free to choose not to participate or stop participating any time.
If you have questions about this study, please contact Chelsea Lang at clang4 at nmsu.edu<mailto:clang4 at nmsu.edu> or Dr. Eve Adams (faculty advisor) at eadams at nmsu.edu<mailto:eadams at nmsu.edu>. If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, please contact the NMSU Office of Research Compliance at (575)646-7177 or ovpr at nmsu.edu<mailto:ovpr at nmsu.edu>. Thank you for providing your voice in this study and for helping us to further research on this vital topic.
