My name is Kristal Valdovinos and I am a Ph.D. student at New Mexico State University and I would greatly appreciate it if you could please read the information below about my research study and consider participating and/or if you would feel comfortable to please share my research flyer (attached to this email) with students and colleagues. Dear Potential Participant,

My name is Kristal Valdovinos, I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology at New Mexico State University.  I am interested in learning about the experiences of Mexican and Mexican American men and exploring resiliency and protective factors that contribute to breaking the cycle of violence. In order to participate in this study, you must be 18 or older, identify as Mexican or Mexican American, and must currently live or grew up for a majority of your childhood (5 years or longer) in a state along the U.S.-Mexico border (California, Arizona, New Mexico or Texas). In addition, you must have past exposure to domestic violence in your family as a child and/or teen but have never engaged in violence in your own adult romantic heterosexual relationship(s). As a participant, you must have been in a romantic heterosexual relationship(s) for at least 3 months in adulthood (when 18 or older).

If you decide to participate in this study, you will complete one 60-90 minute phone interview. Your participation is voluntary and confidential.
