MESSAGE FROM THE AAPI ONLINE COORDINATOR - Mariella M. Self, Ph.D. (mmself at texaschildrens.org<mailto:mmself at texaschildrens.org>)

Hi internship applicants,

Happy October! This is a busy internship preparation month, so here are a few reminders in hopes of helping keep you on track.

* Transcripts - If you still need to order a transcript, I recommend doing so immediately!

The AAPI Online team may require 7-10 business days to upload transcripts to your account. Students can become quite stressed if a transcript is still pending and deadlines are approaching, so I recommend that you take care of any lingering transcript tasks now. Transcripts should be sent via mail to:

AAPI Online Transcript Department
P.O. Box 9117
Watertown, MA 02471

* DCT Verification - As a reminder, once your have submitted your AAPI to your DCT for verification, the core of the AAPI (including your hours) is "locked" and no longer modifiable. However, you can still work on and upload cover letters, essays, your CV, and supplemental materials after DCT verification, so you do not need to wait until those are completed to submit your hours. Follow your DCT's instructions regarding when you should submit your hours for verification, but I'd suggest you do so soon, if you haven't submitted them already.

* References - As a reminder, references should be submitted using the revised version of the Standardized Reference Form. Reference writers will upload their references to your AAPI Online account, and it is wise to ensure they are aware of your earliest application deadline so that your applications will be complete. If your reference writer needs your reference request to be re-sent, you may do this within the AAPI Online portal.

* Submit Applications Prior to the Deadline! - I strongly recommend that you submit your applications prior to the day each site has specified as their application deadline. Almost all applicants aspire to submit early, but many still end up tweaking until the last minute. If there are any technical difficulties when you submit on deadline day, this allows minimal or no time to address them, which can cause a lot of stress at 11:55 p.m. No one thinks this will be them, but it happens every year! If you submit prior to the deadline day, you should be able to avoid a variety of potential challenges and stressors.

* Accessing Help - If you do encounter a technical difficulty, the AAPI Online customer support team is your source for help. They can be reached M-F 9-5 Eastern Time at 617-612-2899 or support at appicas.org<mailto:support at appicas.org>. I will gladly answer content questions about the AAPI Online and help as I am able, but I cannot access your individual accounts to investigate or resolve technical concerns (e.g., missing transcripts, inability to log in, difficulty uploading documents).

Keep up the hard work!

Mariella
