Dean students: Check out this information on Grad school travel awards:

As you may be aware, the COE offers Doctoral Student Travel Awards of $500. Last year we began to award these twice each year, for doctoral students attending conferences taking place Jan 1-Jun 30 and July 1 – Dec 31. As we require a conference acceptance as part of the award application packet giving them out in two different rounds insures all students get the chance to apply no matter when they are attending a conference.

This year, the SAS office will continue to do the logistical management tasks (e.g., conduct the advertising, receive the applications and organize them -- see timeline below). Then SAS will provide each department head with the application information for students in their own departments. The departments themselves will decide how they want to select recipient(s). For example, they could use a currently existing committee or create a new committee. In any case, the decision would be made internally. The department will then report back to the SAS office the name of their recipient(s) so that the travel award can be processed and given to the student.

Just like last year we will be able to provide eight awards total during the year. That means for this Fall we will offer four awards of $500, one for each department.
