Dear Colleagues,

Strategies to Reduce and Manage Conflict in the Classroom
Some classroom topics may accentuate differences between students in ways that produce predictable disagreements. However, there are other situations when conflicts may occur without warning. In this session, we'll discuss considerations and techniques for responding in the moment to inadvertently disturbing or even purposefully offensive incidents. Moreover, we'll address concerns of graduate student teachers about how to proactively set expectations for class climate. Anticipating and preparing for conflicting opinions in response to course material and discussions will increase graduate student instructors ability to support all students when a disconcerting remark or action is made while maintaining a safe and non-polarizing classroom.
This training will:
* Raise awareness
* Develop skills and confidence when responding to problems or concerns
* Ensure the safety and well-being of self and others
