Dear Black students from Counseling Psychology programs:

Dr. Arlette Ngoubene-Atioky, assistant professor in the Graduate Psychology program at Chatham University, in collaboration with Deondra Benson, Dr. Jill Cyranowski, Dr. Jennifer Morse, Dr. Innocent Okozi, Dr. Claudette Williamson-Taylor, and Dr. Gina Zanardelli are seeking to explore the factors that lead to the academic functioning of Black students enrolled in doctoral programs in counseling psychology in the U.S. This study is approved by the Chatham University IRB (study #3602 ).

If you are an 18 years and older  and a Black student enrolled in a doctoral counseling psychology program in the U.S., we invite you to participate in our study.

When you proceed to the link found below, you will respond to a demographic questionnaire and questions on your academic functioning and factors that may influence it. Completion of the study will take approximately 30 minutes of your time. All your answers will remain anonymous. You will not be asked to provide your name and/or any information that may identify you. In order to protect your identity, please do not include your name or any personal identifying information on this survey.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary.  Please remember that you have the right to not participate.  You may skip any questions that you do not want to or feel uncomfortable answering. You can withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.  There is a chance that some of the questions might make some individuals feel uncomfortable. We strongly encourage you to seek personal resources to manage any lingering emotions evoked from the study. Neither Chatham University nor any government or other agency funding this research project will provide special services, free care, or compensation for any injuries resulting from this research. Please understand that treatment for such injuries will be at your expense and/or paid through your medical plan.
