Required Qualifications
The Counseling Psychology Program in the Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall semester 2017 (August 28, 2017). Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in vocational psychology broadly defined (e.g., career assessment and development, occupational health psychology, educational outcomes and disparities). We also encourage applications from individuals whose research supports our commitment to understanding cultural and individual diversity in society (e.g., diversity related to age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, or social economic status). Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate and graduate-level teaching. The primary appointment will be in our Counseling Psychology program with possible cross-affiliation with other departmental areas.
The appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year (late-August to late-May), and will be made at rank of tenure-track assistant professor. Salary is competitive.
Applications are encouraged from graduates with a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field with preference for candidates with degrees from a APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly work, evidence of research ability, ability to make an interdisciplinary contribution to the University’s research mission, commitment to high-quality classroom instruction and student mentoring, and the strength of recommendations. A successful candidate's dossier will demonstrate scholarly distinction, a record of publications, and teaching commitment.
