Dean’s Message
Dear COE Community,
I know the world beyond campus has felt particularly heavy lately, and those strains can surface in our classrooms, conversations, and daily work. This is a moment to lean into patience, kindness, and connection, and to remember we don’t have to navigate it alone. I appreciate all you do to support one another and our students.
Last week I had the opportunity to join the UOTeach Program Advisory Meeting as part of the COE's Consortium for the Improvement of Professional Education. It was a joy to connect with program faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners, to discuss not only the challenges of the moment but our collective hope and aspirations for the future.
Best wishes,
Emily

Call for Proposals: Faculty-Led Study Abroad Proposals
All UO faculty are invited to propose a faculty-led study abroad program. Proposals for all programs, including those that have run in previous years, must be submitted each year for review and renewal. Careful consideration will be given to proposed program locations as we aim to diversify study abroad offerings. Please consult with your department head and consider how your program will fit into your school/college collective study abroad offerings before submitting. Visit geo.uoregon.edu/faculty-led-programs<https://geo.uoregon.edu/faculty-led-programs> for complete details. Apply by April 15, 2026 for programs in summer or fall 2027.
Call for Nominations: Distinguished Young Alumni Award - Nominations due March 30, 2026
Do you know of alumni who have achieved significant accomplishments within fifteen years of graduation and before their fortieth birthday? If so, please consider nominating them for the 2026 Distinguished Young Alumni Award.
This award, presented jointly by University Advancement and the UOAA, recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional professional success or noteworthy personal achievement early in their careers. A selection committee made up of select members from the UOAA Board of Directors, University Advancement, and the UOAA will review nominations and propose finalists. With the ten-year class reunion this fall, we will give special consideration to alumni from the classes of 2015-2017.
To submit a nomination, please email nominations to Esther Harclerode at estherh at uoregon.edu<mailto:estherh at uoregon.edu>. Nominations are due by Tuesday, March 30, 2026.
Call for Participation: HEDCO Clinic Website Photoshoot
We are gathering interest for a lively and collaborative photoshoot on Tuesday, March 17 between 2 and 5 p.m., and you are welcome to participate for any portion of that window. Our goal is to bring together a wide range of voices and faces from across campus and the community. We hope to include current students, clinic staff, and faculty, along with children, families, alumni, and community partners. We welcome participants across many ages and identities, including children, teens, adults, and older adults.
The images we create together will help refresh the HEDCO Clinic website and support fundraising efforts for the entire College of Education. Your presence will add energy and authenticity to this project, so let us know if you are interested in joining the fun!
Thank you for taking a moment to fill out this form: College of Education Photoshoot Interest Form – Fill out form<https://forms.office.com/r/uqZgxApCSr>

Reminders
Employee Engagement Survey Reminder
As of Monday of this week, the COE was at 26% participation. The UO Engagement survey was delivered to inboxes on the morning on Monday February 23rd from sender: “Gallup” with the subject line: “You’re invited: Take the engagement survey by March 9”. We’ve heard that on occasion it has landed in the “Other” inbox or junk folder. We’ve received a few questions related to the use of the term “unit” or “department” in the survey. For most of the COE, unit or department refers to one’s home department or research unit.
