2026 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Commemoration and Awards Ceremony

Location: EMU Ballroom
The University of Oregon will celebrate eight outstanding individuals and organizations who received the 2026 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards in the Erb Memorial Union Ballroom. This year's theme is "The Courage to Belong." Belonging requires courage to be agents of change and drum majors for justice, despite obstacles or adversity. Congratulations to three COE awardees this year: Rhonda Nese, Exemplary Leadership Award; Da'Mon Merkson, Institutional Transformation Award; and Kent McIntosh, Inclusive Scholarship Award.

Faculty and Staff - Help Review COE Scholarship Applications
Join other COE staff and faculty for the annual COE student scholarship application review. Faculty, this is considered college-level service and is a great way to support our current and future students. And...the more reviewers we have on the committee, the fewer applications each person has to review! Reviews of applications occur completely online between February 16 and March 8. If you would like to participate in this rewarding activity or would like to learn more before committing, please complete the 2026 Scholarship Committee Signup Form<https://forms.office.com/r/SLTXFf8sqL> by February 6th.

A UO study, which analyzed 18 previous studies, found a 76% chance that number board games improve early numeracy skills in children. Gena Nelson, PhD, one of the report's authors, highlighted that even brief play sessions with linear-number board games can significantly enhance foundational math skills.
