Subject: [AALList] Federal Research Advocacy Follow Up
*Please distribute to faculty in your unit*
As a follow up to the December event co-hosted by OVPRI and Government and Community Relations, “Research Advocacy for FY26 and the new Administration: Insights from a Policy-Maker,” we are interested in securing information from our research community to support traditional research priorities<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.aplu.org/our-work/4-policy-and-advocacy/federal-budget-and-appropriations/__;!!C5qS4YX3!HbdAHucdRIRE1OwY-AIwaKgbNu7NJRRsD_HC5ajpDbs9LpEPnLla6gm4XrcyrayysL6SHPcL-oXNf5o7QHLO-Ug$>, identify areas of policy interest, and elicit suggestions for federal funding requests through congressionally directed spending. We do not know if the US House and Senate will allow congressionally directed spending (sometimes known as earmarks) that have been permitted for the past four years. We are preparing as if the rules will permit earmarks. Therefore, we welcome suggestions for projects that meet current guidance. Along with continuous engagement with campus, this request for information enables our divisions to plan and be ready to coordinate high-impact advocacy and engagement.
Faculty are encouraged to review materials on this website<https://research.uoregon.edu/node/582542?check_logged_in=1> (note you must login with your UOID) and submit their interest<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/app.smartsheet.com/b/form/8f893b19610b403aafe12596936705e8__;!!C5qS4YX3!HbdAHucdRIRE1OwY-AIwaKgbNu7NJRRsD_HC5ajpDbs9LpEPnLla6gm4XrcyrayysL6SHPcL-oXNf5o7DE8qLo4$> for engaging in advocacy and/or sharing specific research priorities by Friday, January 17.
We will be in touch with you, as needed, after reviewing requests and suggestions. Please contact Betsy Boyd, Senior Associate VP, Federal Affairs, at 541-513-1746 or eaboyd at uoregon.edu<mailto:eaboyd at uoregon.edu> with specific questions.
With thanks,
OVPRI & Government and Community Relations
