Colloquium Title: Advancing Psychological Interventions for Prenatal Anxiety: Diversifying the Literature
Description: In this talk I will review quantitative and qualitative findings from three studies that test psychological interventions for pregnant Black and Latinx people with anxiety and highlight specific areas where our treatments have fallen short. I will also discuss my plans to test a novel treatment for prenatal anxiety that may be more engaging and acceptable for minoritized people and ultimately improve clinical outcomes.
About Carolyn Ponting: Dr. Carolyn Ponting is a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. She has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA, and a minor in Health Psychology. Her research focuses on trauma, mental health care, and prenatal interventions with Hispanic/Latine populations.
