"Reducing Mental Health Disparities through Culturally-Relevant, Family-Focused Research"
This colloquium will present a program of research that addresses mental health disparities for racial/ethnic minority and immigrant youth. Findings will center on how cultural and contextual factors influence parenting and their help-seeking behaviors, leading to increased psychopathology risk for these youth. This talk will also illustrate the systematic adaptation of evidence-based approaches for Asian American adolescents as an example of improving treatment access for understudied and underserved populations. There will be a question and answer session following the presentation and an opportunity to provide your feedback.
This presentation is part of an on-campus interview for the Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology with a focus on underserved populations<https://careers.uoregon.edu/en-us/job/530176/assistant-professor-counseling-psychology-with-a-focus-on-underserved-populations> in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services.
