Dear College of Education faculty and staff,
It is my pleasure to announce the next dean of our College of Education (COE). After an extensive search and interview process, Dr. Laura Lee McIntyre has been selected to lead the college.
We are appreciative of the level of thoughtful engagement in this search from members of the search committee; COE faculty, staff, and students; and a host of other valued stakeholders. Feedback across these groups showed a significant level of agreement that Dr. McIntyre was the right choice as the next dean. The level of agreement is remarkable and unusual in a search of this size and scope. Survey respondents' comments spoke to Dr. McIntyre's knowledge, disposition, and skills to successfully serve as the next dean. The feedback received also highlighted her consistent efforts to support diversity, equity and inclusion, vital work that will continue to be part of the college's and university's goals to become a more diverse and inclusive community.
The COE is a highly unique ecosystem, one that relies on a robust and vibrant culture of entrepreneurship, external funding, a large and diverse combination of academic programs, and active and engaged community outreach. This infrastructure is supported by a large and diverse group of faculty including both TTF and Career Faculty (research, instructional, clinical). This unique culture requires a leader who understands all aspects of this ecosystem and is able to successfully navigate the COE's continued success within the broader institution and state. Based upon the direct feedback my office received across multiple constituent groups, Dr. McIntyre emerged as the only finalist with the demonstrated capacity to support and expand the COE's complex set of programs and activities while simultaneously responding to broader institutional goals.
Dr. McIntyre has done an excellent job as interim dean, providing steady leadership and advancing important initiatives in the college over the last year. I am confident that as permanent dean, she will continue to work closely with faculty, staff, and students, as well as other campus and community partners, to ensure that we provide outstanding teaching and research in the field of education; and that she will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and foster partnerships with other academic units and stakeholders.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. McIntyre on her new role as permanent dean of our College of Education.
Sincerely,
Janet Woodruff-Borden
Interim Provost and Executive Vice President
