Dear COE community,
I write this issue of The Weekly while on the road. I hope to see many COE faculty and students at the AERA convention! For those of you who will be in Chicago, grab your students and your colleagues and come check out our UO COE Reception at AERA on Friday 4/14 from 7-9 pm CDT at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago - 221 N Columbus Dr, Chicago, IL 60601. If you're like me, you're in-person conference-going skills are a bit rusty. I'm excited to attend and look forward to seeing you there! Kudos to Lisa Fortin for her organizational wizardry and for pulling together a fabulous reception for us in Chicago Friday night.
For those staying close to Eugene this year, I'm sure you're staying busy and are well into the thick of things in Week 2 of the term. I wish to acknowledge and appreciate the work of Zeni Colorado-Resa and our three undergraduate program directors - Alison Schmitke, Karen Durany, and Jen Doty for getting the annual program assessments submitted to the provost's office in advance of the Friday deadline. This year we focused on Program Learning Outcomes and Student Achievement Goals as part of the program assessments. I'm grateful to all of our program directors - at the undergraduate and graduate levels - for engaging in this critical work. Last week program directors met and shared valuable perspectives on the role. Please expect some follow-up and important clarifications (and possibly changes) to these roles moving forward. Program leadership is essential and we need to come together to address areas in need of attention. Thank you for being thought partners with this work!
Finally, thanks to all who attended and participated in last week's COE faculty and staff meeting where we discussed the IDEAL Climate Survey and the COE data. Embedded in the email below is the schedule for employee-specific discussion groups that Dianna and I are facilitating next week. Huge thanks to Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann and the entire DEI Committee for their work on helping to identify emerging themes for our future action planning.
Wishing us all the best as we embark on this next chapter of work on behalf of the College of Education community.
Warmly,
Laura Lee
p.s. don't forget to scroll all the way down to get to the accolades. Reach out and congratulate your colleagues and co-workers for their wonderful accomplishments and contributions!
