Dear COE faculty and staff,
Welcome to Week 1 of fall term! ! It feels great to be back and see so many students, faculty, and staff on campus. Thank you to all who attended last week's Dean's Welcome Lunch, and a huge thanks to Lisa Fortin for helping to create such a wonderful event!
Many of you may have seen yesterday's Around the O<https://around.uoregon.edu/content/uo-kicks-record-breaking-year-new-ducks> story about UO's incoming class. It's impressive to see that the university is welcoming the largest number of incoming students in its history and an exceptional freshman class of diverse, talented and high-achieving Ducks. As we grow our campus and increase the number of students from underrepresented backgrounds, be thoughtful and intentional about creating a warm and welcoming College of Education community for our new (and returning) students. Take a few minutes out of your day to talk to someone new, offer guidance or assistance, or simply share a smile or a wave. I'm proud to be a part of our COE team where we prioritize student success and student engagement. Here in the COE our intellectual community and impact is unmatched. Thanks to each of you for making this place so special.
Warm wishes,
Laura Lee
