Dear Faculty and Staff,
This week we celebrate our teachers and honor their important contributions to student learning. For those of you who work to prepare future educators, you know the value of investing in this next generation of our workforce and the value of mentorship, support, and partnership with our early career leaders. For those of you who have school-aged children, you know the impact that teachers have on the lives of our kids. For those of you who teach in higher education, you can change lives and professional trajectories through your role in the classroom, in the field, and the research lab. In the College of Education this week, we celebrate all of our teachers and acknowledge the resilience, dedication, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of students. Thank you, teachers! https://www.facebook.com/reel/1026432594668240
Warmly,
Laura Lee

Accolades:
* Sara Schmitt<https://www.purdue.edu/hhs/hdfs/directory/faculty/schmitt_sara.html>, currently faculty at Purdue University, will join the faculty in the College of Education at UO this Fall as an associate professor in special education and Bricker/Squires Faculty Chair in Early Intervention. Dr. Schmitt's research focuses on the role of self-regulation in school readiness and interventions to support important academic and social-behavioral outcomes in young children.
* The Center for the Prevention of Abuse and Neglect (Jeff Todahl, PI; Simone Piper, Co-PI) received a grant ($200,036.00) from the Tides Center titled Dissemination and Community Engagement for Transformational Impact. * Check out the important discussion led in part by Tiffany Brown. Brown hopes that presenting research and shedding light on the subject can have a real impact. "There will be a presentation component where I'll be sharing what we know about self-harm behaviors in terms of the research, what we know in terms of best ways to support people who are struggling with this," Brown said. https://nbc16.com/news/local/eugene-4j-holds-event-to-address-uptick-in-self-harming-behaviors
* During Child Abuse Prevention month this April, the DuckFunder campaign raised $33,293 to support CPAN and the 90by30 Initiative. Thanks to 109 community members, including many among our own faculty and staff, this campaign will provide vital financial support to 90by30's efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect in Lane County. Thank you for stepping up to make this DuckFunder campaign a success. We're blown away by your generosity.
* Emily Tanner-Smith was a guest lecturer at WSU COE yesterday to discuss her research and the HEDCO Institute. https://twitter.com/wsucoe/status/1521180187638919169
