Dear Faculty and Staff,
Our faculty are joining the public discourse on topics of keen interest, including topics such as mental health self-care, long-term effects of remote learning on higher education attendance, Oregon high school graduation standards and trends, health promotion, and early literacy. Some of this public engagement work is highlighted in the “Accolades” section each week. The trend is clear. Many more faculty, staff, and students are participating in this public outreach. As a result, I think it is important to formally express my gratitude to you on behalf of the many individuals who benefit from this service. I receive unsolicited expressions of gratitude from various stakeholders and the meteoric rise of our social media engagement both provide evidence of extraordinary public appreciation for this service. Thank you!
I also wish to acknowledge again the recognition of our Sapsik’ʷałá Tribal Advisory Council and the work of Dr. Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann as part of this year’s MLK Commemoration program. We are very proud of, and grateful for your work.
Finally, I regret that we are again in a tenuous moment. We are affected by our own pandemic-related concerns, and those of our colleagues, students, and family members. Please take extra care until we reach less shaky times.
Regards,
Randy
