Dear Faculty and Staff,

I wish to direct your attention to the Accolades section at the end of this edition. In particular, I recommend that you open the Sponsored Projects report for Fiscal Year 2021. Among other highlights, we set a new record for sponsored projects funding at over $60 Million. Congratulations to all; approximately 900 of us engaged in this work!

In addition to John Seeley’s contribution to public scholarship, the third item provides an accessible summary of our improved digital outreach and social media work. This story is also record setting. Again, I offer my gratitude to everyone who contributes to these improvements in outreach and engagement.

I hope that you take a few moments to savor your individual, and our collective accomplishments.

Reminders:

  *   COE Equity and Inclusion Committee Newsletter: The newest COE Equity and Inclusion Committee Newsletter <https://conta.cc/3HVvwct> was sent out last week. We hope you were able to read this relevant and inspiring information. A special thank you to Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann for her leadership of this committee.

  *   Required workplace harassment and discrimination prevention training: The University of Oregon is launching an initiative to elevate awareness of the university’s commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive workplace. This campus-wide initiative calls on faculty and staff to recognize harassment and discrimination, know their reporting obligations, and speak up to reinforce the institution’s values. Human Resources provides an updated web-based workplace harassment and discrimination prevention training based on the university’s current policies. All faculty, officers of administration, classified employees, and graduate employees are required to complete this training by March 25, 2022. Temporary and student employees are encouraged to complete the training, but are not required to do so. Human Resources will be tracking and reporting completion rates to unit and department leadership. Important information about the training:

o    It takes about 45 minutes to complete.
o    Hourly employees will be paid for their time spent completing the training, and exempt employees can take the training during working hours.
o    You can also access the training through the Human Resources website<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/t.e2ma.net/click/wq52of/wireizl/k197b0__;!!C5qS4YX3!VGUTxgWhxFTgCKPWlU7EPRlcrLWZZ1v9eZ-mUTAERrCsnKChJ2AlOrGc1xcrT8AI-A$>.

  *   Winter Faculty and Staff Meeting:  Please hold Friday, March 11th 2022 (1:30 – 3:00) for the Winter Faculty and Staff meeting. The Winter meeting will continue the new meeting structure in which we (a) hear from faculty and staff about activities occurring in units, (b) hear from students, faculty, or staff about activities and events that impact our student body, and (c) provide an opportunity for group discourse about current or critical topics. If you have ideas for future presentation topics or discussion ideas please send them to dcarriza at uoregon.edu<mailto:dcarriza at uoregon.edu>. Agenda information and zoom link will follow. Additionally, we know that times continue to be atypical for so many of us, so the meeting will be recorded for those unable to attend.

  *   The COE is unrivaled in sponsored project funding and our research culture is field-leading and highly influential with a long tradition of translating research into effective models, methods, and measures that improve lives.
