Dear Faculty and Staff,
The information included in the table below speaks more powerfully than my words. We are #1 for NCSER funding and #2 in all IES funding among 614 institutions since 2011. The story of how a talented and hard-working faculty leveraged federal research funding to bring a college back from the brink of closure in 1990 to preeminence today is probably unparalleled in American higher education.

Due to the continuing pandemic, we will be offering a socially distanced lunch this year. Everyone who RSVP’s to our lunch will be able to come down to the HEDCO Courtyard from noon – 1 pm, pick up their lunch and take it wherever they wish to eat. Classified staff will also be able to pick up a gift at a table located in the HEDCO lobby. * Winter Faculty and Staff Meeting: Please hold Friday, March 11th 2022 (1:30 – 3:00) for the Winter Faculty and Staff meeting. The Winter meeting will continue the new meeting structure in which we (a) hear from faculty and staff about activities occurring in units, (b) hear from students, faculty, or staff about activities and events that impact our student body, and (c) provide an opportunity for group discourse about current or critical topics. If you have ideas for future presentation topics or discussion ideas please send them to dcarriza at uoregon.edu<mailto:dcarriza at uoregon.edu>. Agenda information will follow. Additionally, we know that times continue to be atypical for so many of us, so the meeting will be recorded for those unable to attend.
* Required workplace harassment and discrimination prevention training: The University of Oregon is launching an initiative to elevate awareness of the university’s commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive workplace. This campus-wide initiative calls on faculty and staff to recognize harassment and discrimination, know their reporting obligations, and speak up to reinforce the institution’s values. Human Resources provides an updated web-based workplace harassment and discrimination prevention training based on the university’s current policies. All faculty, officers of administration, classified employees, and graduate employees are required to complete this training by March 25, 2022. Temporary and student employees are encouraged to complete the training, but are not required to do so. Human Resources will be tracking and reporting completion rates to unit and department leadership. Important information about the training:
* The web-based training is hosted in MyTrack <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/t.e2ma.net/click/wq52of/wireizl/4887b0__;!!C5qS4YX3!VGUTxgWhxFTgCKPWlU7EPRlcrLWZZ1v9eZ-mUTAERrCsnKChJ2AlOrGc1xfpze2E0A$> and appears on your development plan.
* It takes about 45 minutes to complete.
* Hourly employees will be paid for their time spent completing the training, and exempt employees can take the training during working hours.
* You can also access the training through the Human Resources website<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/t.e2ma.net/click/wq52of/wireizl/k197b0__;!!C5qS4YX3!VGUTxgWhxFTgCKPWlU7EPRlcrLWZZ1v9eZ-mUTAERrCsnKChJ2AlOrGc1xcrT8AI-A$>.
Accolades:
* Stephanie Wood was awarded the very prestigious Jay I. Kislak Chair for the Study of the History and Cultures of the Early Americas at the Library of Congress (more details here: https://www.loc.gov/programs/john-w-kluge-center/chairs-fellowships/chairs/jay-i-kislak-chair/). In keeping with this award, Stephanie will receive support to work on her project, "Visual Lexicon of Aztec Hieroglyphs” (in development site: https://aztecglyphs.uoregon.edu/) while in residence at the Library of Congress during the 2022-2023 academic year.
* James Muruthi was featured in this AroundtheO article<https://around.uoregon.edu/content/researcher-study-aging-and-social-relationships-kenya> for his research on aging and social relationships in Kenya.
* Maggie Osa, Prevention Science Doctoral Candidate, has been awarded the highly competitive Drs. Rosalee G. and Raymond A. Weiss Research Innovation Grant from the American Psychological Foundation. These funds will be used to investigate culturally-sensitive psychological and social factors, beyond appearance and weight concerns, that may be relevant to disordered eating behaviors among African American women. This grant opportunity supports research, education, and intervention projects that use psychology to solve social problems. Given that many deleterious health conditions that disproportionately impact African American women have been linked to disordered eating, the ultimate goal of this project is to help generate ethical and culturally responsive health promotion intervention efforts.
Job Postings:
* Evaluation Program Coordinator: Early Childhood CARES is seeking an Evaluation Program Coordinator to provide clinical supervision to 4-10 Evaluators managing the intake, referral, screening, and evaluation placement process for children and families referred to our program.
