coe-staff: Final 2021 Institutional Hiring Plan

Dear Faculty and Staff,


The final 2021 Institutional Hiring Plan (IHP) decisions have now been made public (https://provost.uoregon.edu/ay2021-22-institutional-hiring-plan). As you know, we originally had eight proposals and after intense discussion and decision making put forth four faculty proposals on behalf of the College. The Office of the Provost received a total of 94 proposals and after consultation with the Deans Hiring Advisory Committee, the seven-member Provost’s Faculty Hiring Advisory Committee, and the Active Recruitment Team they authorized 34 tenure-track faculty searches, about one-third of the searches requested.

While we were not as successful as I had hoped, we did receive one approved hire in the Special Education and Clinical Sciences department. The AY21-COE-01 search for Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education was approved for hire at either the Associate or Professor rank. This hire will support expansion of early childhood special education and intervention educator preparation nationally and internationally due to implementation of a new distance-learning master’s degree option and help our college address infant mental health and school readiness needs in young children birth – 5 years by partnering with our EC Cares research and outreach unit, which serves all of Lane County. Appended to this email is the full proposal that was submitted for this hire.

I want to thank you all for contributing your time and effort to the process and creating compelling proposals to move the College forward. I look forward to seeing how this hire will help contribute to the success of the College and we will continue to look for opportunities to meet the needs and goals that were identified in this process.
