Sent on Behalf of Randy Kamphaus, Dean of the College of Education

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Ben Clarke has agreed to serve a one-year term as Interim Director of the Center on Teaching and Learning (CTL). Ben's service as Associate Director of the CTL makes him an ideal candidate to steward the CTL and it's extraordinary faculty and staff in the near term. I am grateful for his willingness to take on this important responsibility.

Dr. Clarke is an Associate Professor in our School Psychology Program and a national leader in mathematical development for children with challenges, delays, or disabilities, in particular. His work is aimed at helping children overcome these challenges by creating and testing the efficacy of intervention programs spanning the K-6th grades in both traditional and technology based formats. In addition, Dr. Clarke's work has focused on developing assessment materials examining early mathematics knowledge and number sense with a focus on identifying and preventing later mathematics difficulty. His work has been supported by over $55 Million in federal grants. He has published articles and book chapters on mathematics instruction and assessment, and developing multi-tiered instructional models including the IES practice guide "Assisting students struggling with mathematics: Response to Intervention for elementary and middle schools".

I look forward to working with Ben in his new role.

Regards,

Randy
C OVPRI, Office of the Provost
