Morning all and Happy Friday!
Below are the totals for the first week of the Food for Lane County Food Drive 2021. The COE got a BIG shout out as one of two departments that donated canned food at the first canned food drive at the Student Pantry! Let's keep the momentum going!
COE has a total so far of $965 from 5 employees who have committed to donate through payroll deduction for the Governor's State Employees Food Drive.
Next week will be dedicated to Culturally Appropriate Foods at the Student Pantry. The list for culturally appropriate foods includes: Dried lentils, chickpeas, beans and split peas in 1 lb bags; Mole and canned salsas; curry paste and packets; masa; spices; chiles - you get the idea. Don't have these foods? Feel free to choose others and donate those.
Let's make the top spot again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe challenge another department for a little friendly competition? We need to keep going with payroll deductions and canned foods as we don't have the chocolate sales or cash jars this year, which in the past made up 1/3 of our overall funds.
Through 8am on 2/5, the UO Governor's Food Drive has collected...
* $9,349 from online giving through Classy
* $10,249 from payroll deduction, from 71 employees -- This has already surpassed last year's payroll deductions
* 116 pounds of food, directly donated to the Student Food Pantry at our first drop-off event
Amazing! This represents 78,508 pounds of food or 58,881 meals for our neighbors and community members.
Thanks to everyone who has donated thus far!
Lisa and Marty
