Dear Faculty and Staff,

Well, it is now abundantly clear why we need "The Weekly." "The Monthly" is not published with enough frequency to capture the good work going on here in the summer. Consequently, I will send some additional news missives as we near the opening of the Fall term.

For today, I wish to share my excitement about our new faculty hires, new academic advisors, new staff members, and faculty searches in process. For example, we've hired two extraordinary faculty in the last couple of weeks - Kendra Duncan and Katie Fitch. Kendra comes to us from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she serves as edTPA coordinator and clinical instructor. Her expertise is both broad and deep. Kendra began her teaching career in the Memphis City Schools, proceeded to become staff development coordinator for the system, and then began her career in higher education. She has over two decades of experience in the K-12 teaching and educator preparation fields. Katie began her career as a chemistry teacher in Houston. She served as district chemistry curriculum lead and then science department chair. Katie completed her Ph.D. degree in our Critical and Sociocultural Studies in Education academic program area.

There is much excitement to share as we bring new colleagues in to help inform and improve our work. I encourage you to attend our opening luncheon on September 23 where I will introduce you to our new colleagues.

Until then, please give Kendra and Katie a warm welcome.

Randy
