This message is being sent to Facilities Liaisons campus-wide. If you have already received it, you are listed as a contact for schedule changes for your unit.

We've been directed by Matt Carmichael, Chief University of Oregon PD, with approval from the Incident Management Team, to immediately institute access restrictions to buildings with AMAG access. Custodians have already stopped unlocking mechanical door locks. What this means is that all doors controlled by electronic locks will remain locked until further notice. Anyone who has been granted card access previously will be able to continue to access the building. All buildings are expected to be on restricted access by the end of the day (3/20).

This will also impact various elevators throughout campus. If an occupant is in the building and doesn't have access, the elevator will not move, but the doors will close. This may increase entrapment calls if occupants are unaware their card access is required in order to operate the elevator. If the occupant hits the "open doors" button, the doors will open, and they will be able to walk out.

PD terminology for access:

Three types of locks on campus:

*         Hard keys

*         Electronic (AMAG)

*         Digital keypads (Locknetics)

Access status:

* Unrestricted - open during normal business hours. Restricted at night or weekends.

* Restricted - authorized access only; current status.

* Closed - rare and typically involve life safety issues.

If you have questions or need access, please call the Security Operations Center 6-2919 press #2.

  * For immediate access - UOPD dispatched to location to verify the individual and grant access if appropriate.
  * For permanent access - Access to UO buildings via keys and UO ID proximity cards is managed by the Key and Access Office in ID Card Services in the EMU; individual requests for access to specific areas can be submitted by visiting this website https://emu.uoregon.edu/key-and-access-office
