Dear Faculty and Staff,
As we move into this new phase of temporary normal, we want to remind you of the resources that are available that might make your remote work more manageable. Please know that there are resources to support you in:
* Forwarding voicemail to email: You can program your phone to send voice messages from your desk to your email. Instructions are available here https://telecom.uoregon.edu/voicemail/wpm_email.html (I am told these instructions are not exact, but are close)
* Forwarding calls: If you receive a lot of calls at your desk phone, you can have those calls transferred to ring at your cell phone or other number. If you would like to forward your calls, please complete the attached form and send to coefinance at uoregon.edu<mailto:coefinance at uoregon.edu>
* Mail: Starting Monday March 23rd, all mail will be available for pick up in Suite 130 only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Noon - 2:00pm. If you have an urgent delivery need, please contact Lisa Fortin lfortin at uoregon.edu<mailto:lfortin at uoregon.edu> to see if an alternate arrangement can be made.
* Buildings are closed: COE buildings are locked, only those with Keycard access can enter and exit the building. Most COE faculty and students should currently have keycard access, if you don't, please contact eowens at uoregon.edu<mailto:eowens at uoregon.edu> to arrange for access. For urgent entry, please use the contact information posted at the building entrances.
* Please note, that UO Campus is urging anyone who can work from home to do so. In order to ensure social distancing during this critical window and to reduce the potential spread of the virus, COE buildings should only be accessed on an as needed basis. This will continue until we receive additional guidance.
On-line instruction Resources: Lillian Durán, Adam Pritt, Carol Gering, Katherine Donaldson, & Beth Harn
With the announcement today from President Michael Schill it is now clear that we will be delivering all instruction remotely for the entire Spring term. In order to support our faculty in the College of Education we have compiled a list of resources that may be useful as programs navigate new territory in delivering on-line and remote instruction. These resources will also be posted at https://coedocs.uoregon.edu/display/governance/Curriculum+Resources Please do not hesitate to reach out to Lillian Duran (lduran at uoregon.edu<mailto:lduran at uoregon.edu>) if you need additional instructional support. Lillian is making herself available to triage and to link you to any supports we may have in the college or that will be made available through university programs such as the Teacher Engagement Program (TEP). As a community, I know the value that COE faculty place on excellence in our instruction, however, during this time all we ask is that you do your best. We realize that we find ourselves in an incredibly challenging situation that does not lend itself to fully articulating all of our courses to an on-line format in such a short time frame.
Here are the resources we have complied to date, but please send me (lduran at uoregon.edu<mailto:lduran at uoregon.edu>) any others that you think might be useful to share.
University of Oregon Supports
With regard to Canvas and Panopto, UO Online has created a series of quick-start guides inside this public Canvas course<https://canvas.uoregon.edu/courses/26382>.
We have links to some of the resources put together so far by other units on campus from our library remote teaching page<https://library.uoregon.edu/remote-teaching>:
* Academic Continuity Resources and Guidance: https://provost.uoregon.edu/academic-continuity-resources-and-guidance
* Remote Teaching Ideas from TEP: https://blogs.uoregon.edu/keepteaching/
TEP is providing consultations on remote teaching pedagogy. This page says they will be holding Zoom hours 10am-2pm Monday-Friday: https://blogs.uoregon.edu/keepteaching/request-help/
Resources from the TEP page that looked like they might be useful in particular:
* Humanizing Online Teaching: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Umj2HpNZcscye2REOZPTONfKMjevC-qBsB5NneJ-HF0/preview

Other Resources
On the more technical side of things. Canvas, Panopto, and Zoom all have great documentation and resources for instructors and students. These may be helpful if an instructor wants to accomplish a certain task or a student is having a difficult time managing a system.
Zoom: Many of you have been attending the Zoom trainings that Adam Pritt has hosted over the past two weeks. Additionally, a video of the second training that Adam provided is available here: https://uoregon-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/apritt_uoregon_edu/EUmSv5sxEBZNtweXtQUuN8sBUgpka17ngQ-68NQZhkRWrA?e=33r3X7
