Dear COE community,
Please join me in congratulating our colleague on the following new research award,

Nichole Kelly, PhD, assistant professor in Counseling Psychology, along with her colleagues Adam Wendt and Jordan Pennefather, PhD, of Trifoia, a local educational technology company (https://trifoia.com/who-we-are/), are the recent recipients of an SBIR award from NICHD, called Trauma-Informed Mental Health in Education: A Mindfulness Based Curriculum. This 3-year project (R44HD098921; $1,514,069) will develop and examine the efficacy of a brief mindfulness-based eLearning mental health promotion curriculum among rural middle school students. Expert content consultants include local psychologists, UO graduates and mindfulness experts, Lori Allen, PhD, and Shin Shin Tang, PhD, of the Oregon Mind Body Institute (http://oregonmindful.org/).

***This team of researchers is looking for rural middle school students and teachers in Oregon, North Carolina and Virginia to participate in various components of this study over the course of the next three years. If you are able to connect Nichole with teachers or administrators in rural communities in these states, please contact her at nicholek at uoregon.edu<mailto:nicholek at uoregon.edu>.

Congratulations, Nichole!

Best wishes,
Emily
