In 1982, Governor Vic Atiyeh sponsored the first State Employees Food Drive. State Employees collected food and funds for the Oregon Food Bank (OFB) Network. This tradition has repeated annually ever since. Agencies work in partnership with Regional Food Banks in the OFB Network to provide food assistance throughout the state and southwest Washington to individuals and families in need. The Food Drive will run through February 29 of 2020 on the UO campus.
All donations go to Food for Lane County, Lane County’s local food bank. Monetary and food donations benefit local families and students experiencing food insecurity.
The food drive includes the collection of food donations in donation barrels located across campus (one is in the HEDCO lobby), the collection of monetary donations in donation jars located across campus and by Food for Lane County’s online donation tool<https://fundraise.foodforlanecounty.org/campaign/uo-gov-drive-2020/c265638>. You can also donate by payroll deduction by filling out the form here<https://cpb-us-e1.wpmucdn.com/blogs.uoregon.edu/dist/6/17234/files/2020/01/UO-Payroll-deduction-form-2020.pdf> and returning it to me.
