The faculty member will teach courses at the undergraduate/graduate level(s), advise students, evaluate student learning, and participate in departmental activities as prescribed by the Dean, College of Education and the department Chair. The incumbent will further be expected to play an active role in the maintenance of academic standards and in the development of the Education/ECE curriculum, including the initiation and development of subject material. The position is open rank; the incumbent may be hired at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

Required Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a regionally accredited institution in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, or Early Childhood Special Education
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children – birth to eight years old in group settings
• Potential for/demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarly promise (commensurate with rank)
• Experience teaching students from culturally diverse backgrounds
• Willingness to participate in innovative teacher education projects
• Demonstrated ability to relate well to diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and parents, including underserved populations and first-generation students
• Experience with edTPA or performance-based assessments; as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), the university seeks candidates who are actively committed to serving diverse populations of children, adolescents, and adults

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching, advising, and supervising students of the University’s dual-track Master’s program, as well as conducting and publishing scholarly research and providing service to the University and profession. Potential course assignments may include lifespan and human development, basic and advanced counseling skills, group counseling, practicum and/or internship, and other graduate-level courses.

Required Qualifications:
• A doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision from a CACREP accredited university; ABDs will be considered if completing their dissertation within 6 months of appointment
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor and/or certification as a Professional School Counselor with three years of counseling experience in U.S. public schools
• Direct experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrate ability to relate well to a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members, including under-served populations and first-generation students and families
