Dr. James Muruthi will be presenting a colloquium titled "Relationships Matter:  The Role of Social Support in the Health and Well-being of Minority Older Individuals" on Tuesday, January 15th at 9:30 a.m. in HEDCO 230T.

Dr. James Muruthi Bio

Dr. James Muruthi is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Human Development and Family Science department at Virginia Tech where he has been a member since 2017. James' main research interest is on family and neighborhood factors, social capital, and health disparities among aging marginalized individuals. He has conducted studies using large public datasets as well as small independent data by applying advanced qualitative and quantitative methodologies. He has research in Kenya, South Africa, and the United States and published in various peer-reviewed journals.
