coe-staff: Mark VanRyzin's work featured in Around the O

Dear Colleagues,


Mark Van Ryzin's work is providing strong instructional leadership across our campus. Mark, in collaboration with the Teaching Engagement Program, helped faculty implement cooperative learning strategies in large classes in diverse disciplines including, philosophy, architecture, chemistry, and theater arts. In addition to improving student learning, his work shows promise for improving community among our students. Pilot study results indicated that, "By term's end, there was more willingness to work with other students, regardless of gender, race or familiarity, and reductions in sexist and harassment attitudes among men."
