Dear COE community,
Please join me in congratulating our colleagues on the following new award:

Leslie Leve and Phil Fisher, at the Prevention Science Institute and Center for Translational Neuroscience, will receive 2019-2024 funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse for a $10M Center of Excellence grant, "Prevention Research Center: Parenting among Women Who are Opioid Users." This large center grant will involve numerous collaborators at OHSU and the UO, including Nick Allen, Elliot Berkman, Bill Cresko, Dave DeGarmo, Nicole Giuliani, Jennifer Pfeifer, John Seeley, Elizabeth Skowron, and Beth Stormshak.

Brief summary of grant:

This is a collaboration between faculty at PSI, CTN, and OHSU to better understand-and improves outcome for-women who are using opioids and who are parenting young children. It involves three research projects-the first two are intervention studies aimed at improving parenting for this population (Phil Fisher and Beth Stormshak are the respective PIs of those). The third research study is led by an OHSU team (1 of whom received her doctorate at UO with Phil) and focuses on brain function (neuroimaging) in this population of mothers and their babies. The center also includes infrastructure and support, including a Pilot & Training Core (lead by Elliot Berkman) and a Data Science Core (co-led by Dave DeGarmo and an OHSU faculty member' Bill Cresko is also part of this core within the data science initiative).

Congratulations to Leslie, Phil, and all their collaborators!

Best wishes,
Emily
