Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce the hire of two new full-time career-track faculty for the upcoming academic year.
Chad Catron was hired to provide instruction in our highly popular American Sign Language program. He holds his Master of Arts Degree in Sign Language Teaching from Gallaudet University and has been teaching first and second year American Sign Language (ASL) at Fresno City College. Chad grew up in the Fresno area and is a 4th generation member of the Deaf community. He has served as a board member for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center in Fresno, and is an associate member of the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA).
Dr. Justin Caouette is currently an instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at OHSU. He will teach a variety of graduate courses across the CPHS department, and will take responsibility for growing prevention science masters programs, and expanding accessibility of the masters' program to students living in Portland. Justin's research focuses on youth risk-taking behaviors. A couple of his recent peer-reviewed publications include:
Caouette, J. D., Feldstein Ewing, S. W., Hudson, K., & Bryan, A. D. (in press). Adolescent
condom use and connectivity in the social-planful brain. Journal of Pediatric Psychology. DOI: 10.1093/jpepsy/jsy025
Caouette, J. D., & Feldstein Ewing, S. W. (2017). Four mechanistic models of peer influence
on adolescent cannabis use. Current Addiction Reports, 4(2), 90-99. DOI: 10.1007/s40429-017-0144-0
>From candidate recruitment to hosting on-campus interviews, our search committee members did outstanding work.
Gratefully,
Randy
