Dear COE community,

Please join me in congratulating our colleague, Dr. Stephanie De Anda (Assistant Professor in Communication Disorders and Sciences), who has been awarded a 2019 Faculty Research Award from the University of Oregon's Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.

Stephanie will use this award to support the project, Spoken Language Comprehension: The Influence of Socioeconomic Status and Poverty in School Age. The goal of this project is to understand the influence of Socioeconomic Status (SES) on oral language comprehension in school-age children given the strong links between spoken word recognition and later academic outcomes. Using eye-tracking methods they will examine how children recognize words as each syllable unfolds in spoken language as a function of SES. Congratulations, Stephanie!

Best wishes,

Emily
