Dear Colleagues,
Our college’s emphasis on creating new knowledge dates back to its founding. According to our college’s historical timeline, “1880: The precursor to the future School of Education, the “normal course” curriculum for training teachers is one of three courses of study at the university. The science of instruction (pedagogy) is included in UO curricular offerings in order to meet the state’s demand for teachers.”
We continue to embrace this core mission in the present day by engaging our students in the research process, providing opportunities that only a leading research university college of education can provide. Our students are not only the research leaders of tomorrow, but under the tutelage of our faculty, they are the research leaders of today.
Evidence of this intellectual leadership is now posted inside classrooms and in hallways on the first and second floors of the HEDCO building. Please take a look. I think that you will be impressed.
Regards,
Randy
PS I am grateful to Eric Owens and his team for mounting the many posters.
