??Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am writing to make you aware of the hard work being done by staff, faculty, department heads, and other faculty administrators to prepare us for another successful year. I have charged our leadership with completing as many tasks as possible this summer in order to allow all us to focus fully on our instructional, research, and service missions during the academic terms.

A central part of these preparations is the dissemination and cataloguing of all of the policies, procedures, and practices that guide and govern our work. Dianna Carrizales Engelmann is leading this effort. She is updating our governance portal at https://coedocs.uoregon.edu/display/governance/COE+Governance+and+Policies, and we are finalizing as many documents as possible for addition to these pages. With regard to updates, I've asked her to add some new documents to this site for your easy reference. Our UO Guidelines for Endowed Faculty Appointments is one such example (https://coedocs.uoregon.edu/display/governance/Personnel+Support). Teaching load implementation guidance constitutes another example of a policy that I want everyone to be able to reference easily (https://coedocs.uoregon.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=8912911).

Concurrently with the building out of this "library" of important reference materials, Dianna and I will be distributing some of these documents via email in the interest of ensuring clarity, transparency, and adherence. Adherence is key for achieving fairness in all of our work.

More governance portal information is forthcoming.

Have a great weekend,

Randy
