coe-staff: Update on new LibrarySearch interface - Launch moved to Summer 2018

Hello COE faculty and staff,

I wanted to share the following update about the implementation of the new LibrarySearch interface. Thank you for all the feedback you've shared with us so far:

"Please note that the UO Libraries will not be launching the new "LibrarySearch" User Interface (UI) during Winter Break 2017 as had been anticipated. Instead, we will implement the new UI during Summer Term 2018. This postponement is due to significant issues discovered during beta testing. We in the Libraries are committed to providing you with the best searching and retrieval platform we can, and so we have opted to postpone the implementation date rather than risk disruptions of important functionality during the Winter 2018 and Spring 2018 terms.

As you may recall, during Fall 2017 term, the UO Libraries launched a test/beta version of the new "LibrarySearch" interface alongside the current user interface. The beta afforded the Libraries the opportunity to explore and test the new interface. The target date for the switchover to the new user interface was originally mid-December 2017. When several "showstoppers" were identified during extensive testing, the Libraries made the decision to postpone the go-live date to Summer 2018 term (provided the vendor resolves the system's problems by the new deadline). The new Summer 2018 deadline also allows the Law Library to complete its spring semester without changing to a new interface in the middle of a semester.

We in the Libraries will continue to work on the system changes in relation to the Summer 2018 launch and will keep you informed along the way.
