Dear Faculty and Staff,

All three of these tasks are moving along through various consultations with faculty, academic affairs and budget and planning offices, department heads, faculty advisory committee members, staff, and other groups and individuals. I offer the following updates for you.

NTTF workload policy

I have been consulting with many groups to create a teaching workload proposal to provide to a newly created NTTF workload committee for their consideration as they revise the policy currently in place. I will ask the committee to create a policy for NTTF faculty vote before the end of the term. Brigid will continue to facilitate this work.

TTF workload policy

Likewise, I have a revised teaching workload proposal, and one or two other revisions to put back before the TTF faculty for a vote. I hope to get this proposal out in a couple of days, hold an open forum for faculty to answer any questions, and get a vote taken by the end of May. It has been helpful to work on both faculty policies simultaneously as a means of promoting equitable assignments. For example, There is now considerable parallel wording with regard to teaching load.

Strategic Plan

We have a plan ready for faculty vote. Because voting on a strategic plan is not included in our COE bylaws, I've polled department heads and the faculty advisory committee for their voting preferences. The consensus is to obtain a vote from essentially full time faculty and staff, which was operationalized as research, instructional, TTF, classified staff and OAs with a minimum .90 FTE commitment to the college.

Thanks to everyone who has assisted with this important work.

We will have many accomplishments to point to, and many tasks behind us at the end of this year.

Regards,

Randy

I wish you all a great first Monday in May
