coe-staff: COE Director of Communication

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that Jessica Roberts has accepted the position of Director of Communications in the college and will begin work with us on May 22nd, 2017.

Jessica comes to us from the healthcare industry where, most recently, she served as the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for Kindred Rehabilitation Services. Her experiences at Kindred have equipped her well for a role in the College of Education. We will benefit from her 14 years of experience in communications -- her development of brochures and flyers, her strategic marketing of complex concepts, and her knowledge of branding, as she works with us to: (a) support and streamline daily tasks and workflow, (b) strategically develop and implement our short- and long-term communications expectations, and (c) navigate both the unique and shared elements within and across our college and university.

One of Jessica's first tasks will be to develop a strategic communications plan that we will use to keep the work of the college on mission, to generate momentum under a team of one, and to keep us on the map as a contender among other colleges with more resources. For this reason, over the first 6 weeks of her time with us, I will ask you to continue to utilize the structures we've been using during the recent "lean days" of our communications team (as communicated in an email from me dated 2/6/17).

Thank you to those of you who attended the presentations of our communications candidates and who took time out of your day to provide feedback to inform our decision. We look forward to having Jessica on board.

And finally, thank you as well to those of you who are currently engaging in the work that central communications has begun leading and arranging in recent weeks. The information they gather information during these activities will allow us to provide support to Jessica in her role and to us in our work.
