coe-staff: Moving on

COE colleagues,

My last day as marketing director at the COE will be Nov. 16. I have accepted a communications position at a privately held software company in Bend.

What originally drew me to higher education was the promise of supporting something more noble and enduring than profits and growth. I grew up in a small family where college was a given and academic achievement came easily, so I had very little exposure to people from dramatically different circumstances. Between the many conversations I’ve had at the COE, and my ever-evolving grasp of the scholarship undertaken here, I can honestly say my eyes have been opened wide. I am deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to help me understand and translate the work they do, and admire the passion with which you all approach it — faculty and staff alike. It will be interesting to follow the UO’s fortunes going forward.

No one deserves more public appreciation than my team, Lillian Winkler-Rios and Aaron Montoya, both of whom are rare creative talents.

On behalf of the marketing team, I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we figure out a transition plan. If this was high school, I’d write something awesome in all your yearbooks.
