MEMORANDUM
TO: THE BUILDING USERS OF ZONE A BUILDINGS: Chapman, Collier House, Condon, Deady, Esslinger, Gerlinger, Hendricks, Lokey Education (East), Lokey Education (West), Music (radiators only), Mac Court (Radiators only), Susan Campbell, and Villard
FROM: Campus Operations Customer Service
SUBJECT: Steam to Buildings
Fall term is quickly approaching as is our Fall weather!
How does Campus Operations determine when steam to heat buildings is turned on in the Fall and off in the Spring.
To help clarify, David Ward, Building Automation Systems Manager (6-2303) lists below the criteria his staff uses to moderate steam to your buildings.
We trust this will help de-mystify the process.
Please keep in mind, if we turn the steam on or off too frequently each season, it is very hard on the infrastructure serving our building's mechanical systems.
If we turn on and then day temperatures reach 70+ degrees, we are all too warm.
Steam is turned on in the Fall when:
* Night time outside air temperature is below 50 degrees for five consecutive nights
* AND daytime temperatures are below 70 degrees for five consecutive days
Steam is turned off in the Spring when:
* Night time outside air temperatures are above 50 degrees for five consecutive nights
* AND the daytime temperature is above 70 degrees for five consecutive days
