coe-staff: Please Welcome our Visitors from Saudi Arabia

Dear College of Education Community:

This message is sent on behalf of Dr. Dan Close.

On April 25 a delegation of teachers and professionals will arrive from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They will be visiting the College of Education to participate in a two-week workshop on Universal Design for Learning. During their stay here at the College of Education they will visit Early Childhood CARES classrooms in the Clinical Service Building, conference rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors of HEDCO, and Room 115 Lokey. In addition, they will visit Maple Elementary School and Thurston Elementary School in Springfield.

This workshop is the third in a series of training and technical assistance activities sponsored by Tatweer Company for Educational Services in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The long-term goal of our activities with Tatweer is to assist them in developing model programs of inclusive education, both in Riyadh and throughout the Kingdom. We hope that this workshop will continue the development of our relationship with Tatweer and result in quality educational opportunities for all children in Saudi Arabia.

Please welcome our guests when you see them. They all speak English and are excited to be attending the workshop here at the College of Education. I have noticed several welcoming notes on faculty and staff doors within Hedco, this is good. If you feel comfortable using the Arabic greeting of "as salaam alaykum", which means, "Peace be upon you", you will most likely get a response of "wa alaykum salaam", which means "Upon you be peace".
