All,

Please note that this message only applies to those with Windows computers that have been configured by COEIT.

COEIT has been developing a more automated and streamlined approach for updating software and managing security settings for Windows computers using Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). The approach and technology, being used have been adopted by many IT units on campus to help bring added security and consistency to Windows computers. Many software upgrades will prompt users to let them know that an upgrade is available and ready to be installed. Users will be asked to allow the upgrade to proceed.

We will initiate an upgrade of Mozilla Firefox tomorrow (2/4) to bring it up to date and to patch a security flaw in older versions of Firefox.

In order to facilitate this upgrade, please RESTART your Windows computer as soon as it is convenient for you. Shortly after you log back on, you should be prompted to initiate an upgrade of Firefox. If you experience any issues or have any questions, send a ticket via our help  website http://coehelp.uoregon.edu or you can email us at coeit at uoregon.edu.

If you are interested in more information about the upgrade actions, please check our SCCM page at http://coehelp.uoregon.edu/sccm

Sincerely,
Jeff Woodbury
