coe-staff: Our shared tragedy at UCC

Dear COE Students,

I am writing you on behalf of our faculty, staff, donors, and alumni to express our collective concern for your well-being. Many of us saw personally the shock and sadness that you experienced last week due to having friends at UCC, being from the Roseburg area, or being affected as all of us were by the mere thought of such a tragedy. While there has been an outpouring of support for you from both near and far, we know that the recovery process will be long for some of you; occurring sometime after the headlines fade.

Krista Chronister, our Assistant Dean for Equity and Inclusion, has been at the forefront of our efforts to assist you. She will continue to coordinate our college-wide efforts to help you recover, and link you to university resources. For example, I advise you to contact the University Counseling Center<http://counseling.uoregon.edu/>, where counselors are available and ready to talk at 1590 East 13th Avenue (across from Oregon Hall), or by calling the center at 541-346-3227. Our faculty and staff can reach counselors through the employee assistance program by calling 1-800-433-2320.

Finally, I have attached information about the vigil that will be held this evening, October 5 at 7pm. All are welcome.
