coe-staff: UO Senate Meeting march 4

Hi all - I hope you're enjoying the sunny weekend.  As the weekend ends and thoughts turn back to work, attached are my notes from last Wednesday's senate meeting. The agenda here: http://senate.uoregon.edu/content/senate-meeting-agenda-march-4-2015 has links to all the motions presented in regular session, but not the resolution that was passed when the rules were suspended.  The highlights are a resolution passed entitled: UO Senate rejects UO's response to the lawsuit from student survivor of alleged rape, offered by Jennifer Freyd (Psychology) Senator, and legislation passed requiring the Athletic department to provide up to 3% of its budget to the academic general fund to pay for the cost of tutoring of student athletes at the Jaqua center.  There's a long history to this legislation that is provided in the motion on the website.  (Tutoring at the Jaqua center costs about $4,000 per student in contrast to $250 for non-student athletes.)  Never a dull moment on this campus!
