All,
Adobe Flash is Vulnerable!
Over the weekend, security researchers discovered a new, critical vulnerability affecting Adobe Flash. This new vulnerability puts all users of the current and past versions of Adobe Flash at risk. This affects both Windows and Mac OS systems.
This particular Adobe Flash vulnerability is very serious because your computer can be affected by simply visiting a website that has code that exploits this vulnerability. You do not need to click on any links, advertisements, or buttons for malicious code to affect your computer.
This Flash vulnerability has already been seen to compromise computers through some social media websites.
What Should I Do?
Please disable Flash on your computer(s) and in all of the web browser you use on Windows and Mac OS computers. This should be done for each browser. We are providing instructions on how to disable in the following browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari<http://coehelp.uoregon.edu/info/disabling-adobe-flash-player/>.
On your personally owned computers, we recommend you do the same.
More Info...
Adobe is aware of this issue and aims to have an updated version of Flash available sometime this week (2/2-2/6). Once an updated version of Flash is available, computers running Windows and managed by COEIT will receive the update automatically.
For those of you using current versions of iOS and Android your devices should not be affected as Flash is not allowed to run on recent versions of those operating systems.
Instructions on how to disable the Flash or Shockwave plugins or extensions can be found on the coehelp.uoregon.edu website<http://coehelp.uoregon.edu/info/disabling-adobe-flash-player/> at http://coehelp.uoregon.edu/info/disabling-adobe-flash-player/
Sincerely,
jeff
